Even if I were to crank it back to my birth with what I now know, it would still most certainly have fallen on deaf ears, and only created consternation, perhaps even making my lot more dificult. If I could be taken away to sensible people, and get over family rejection at a young age I might have had a chance. Circumstance is just as important, as what you know, and how you use your time.

Do you honestly think there is anyone in your Boe that doesn't drink. Theyre just smart enough to hide it from veiw. They are power tripping little men and will have as much power over you as you let them. There was one elder in our cong. who drank so much he had a big red nose. We used to call him Rudolph behind his back. Trust me you don't need any of this and you are ahead of the game being out. As the years pass you will come to see that it was difficult to begin with but you will see many of your freinds in the future will be joining you! Meantime you are at a good age and can learn much from this froum on how to adjust your thinking and associates and live with yourself comfortably in conscience. All of us here go through the same feelings. Relax your fine there's nothing wrong with you. It's the other way around, as you will see by spending any time on this forum.

Are JW kids allowed to be kids?
by tall penguin ini had a memory come up today.
i recall there was a time when kids were allowed to read the subheadings at the watchtower study.
they cut that out because they wanted kids to participate in the same way as the adults, by answering the questions for the paragraphs.

Sounds like you had good parents Jamie. Maybe too good. For your brother to be raised a witness and even consider taking such liberties with you, shows an aloofness and an attitude of impunity. If I had your childhood, I wouldn't complain about the witnesses either. Unfortunately some of us had parents who took every written word extremely seriously, and were raised with punitive and restrictive measures beyond beleif, that coloured every aspect of our existance. Some of us can't let go of it that easily, because it effected us in the developmental and formative years, and left heavy scarring. The same way you can't, in your situation. Naivety and cover up has left some of us as victims to the same crap that happened to you on top of everything else. If you wish to minimize everyone elses suffering just because you were the exception to the rule. Go right ahead. I choose to put the blame squarely where it belongs. Just because the witnesses have managed so far to escape the radar of the state and coyly manage there image, this does not absolve them of the responsibilty of broken homes, ruined lives, and suicides. These are very real problems. We are talking about it here, as a form of healing. How would you feel if we said "Well Jamie, it's not your brothers fault you know. Maybe it's just his genetic prediposition. Our parents, I'm sure thought they were doing the right thing and got trapped in a mentality that wasn't healthy for anyone. They were, and are, victims as well. If you do not not see yourself in this scenario, than perhaps you should be posting your greivances elsewhere and seek the appropriate counselling with regards to your situation. Everyone has a different story you know. Good luck to you in any regard!

Would they bother preaching
by Bobhere inif your average publisher believed that the big a was definately not going to come in their lifetime would they bother preaching?
given that they believe that when you die you go to sleep and wake up in a paradise earth with a clean slate what would be the point of preaching.
those that have spent there lives as jw's and died what have they gained.

I've had the same experience with my mother restrangled. She tried to place kn37 with me and couldn't beleive I knew everything about it and many other things. It completly disarms them. She couldn't place it. I also told her she would have a difficult time at the door with it, as anyone can access their computers whenever they want. A circuit overseer came to my house about a month ago too. I told him that I go to this site all the time and don't need to read watchtowers because this source is far more extensive and informative. I even suggested that he check it out himself. I told him that when I first went on it, the response of caring and kinship was so overwhelming that I broke down and cried. I told him that I finally felt like I fit in and belonged to something. They sat there stone-faced and told me it is Satans tool. This forum has given me the power to face these minions without any fear. They are welcome to my house any day and I will shower them with my heartfelt love and try to offer them a good witness to there blindness. I havn't seen an overseer in over 20 years, and answered the door in my long underwear. I did not adress them as" brother" but used the term "man." I also did not allow them to draw me in to a theological discussion. I never felt so good.

The Scent of a Woman!!!!
by AK - Jeff inyour intentions are good - entirely manly.
you step into the shower intent on grabbing a skin-drying manly soap - dial or zest or similar.. then it catches your eye - that little 'womanly scented' bath-bar.
you try and reach past it - to get the large man-size bar on the soap tray - but inexplicably you pick up the lady's perfumey soap.

I've always been an ivory user. My skin is drying a bit from it. Never did find that bar that's supposed to sink and you win a prize. Sometimes when I'm running out, I try to squeeze the left over thin wafers together to get my monies worth.
